I had booked the lowest category room because that is all we can book at the RC using our corporate rate. I was upgraded to a Deluxe Avenue Room and it is so nice. I have a big soaking tub which I plan on climbing into tomorrow. The bed is decked out in Frette linens and the bath products are Frederick Fekkai. I am sucker for good bath products. :-)
Room service is ridiculously expensive. A club sandwich with a brownie for dessert was $42 with taxes, service charges and gratuity. (thank god for expense accounts) I did think it is kind of tacky that they have RC branded bottled water in the mini bar and it is $3.50 a bottle. The RC Battery Park provides complimentary RC water in the room.
I also preferred the workout facility at BP simply because the BP had a Harbour View workout facility. The RC-CP has a nicely equipped gym but it is just stuck in a room with only one small window with no view. The staff have all been helpful and the room is very comfortable. Considering my client is downtown and it takes a good 40mins door-to-door I don’t think I will be staying at the RC-CP much since the RC-BP is ultra convenient and cabs are certainly convenient out front of the RC-BP to take you to any of the many restaurants in SoHo which is a $7 cab ride. - On Apr. 18, 2004, Anonymous posted:
This hotel has taken a quick leap to the very top of the NYC hotel luxury hotel group. The rooms are of nice size (especially when comapred to the new Mandarin Oriental), with great views and the bathrooms are the best in the FS/RC systems. BTW, if you can swing it go for the lowest level suite. I have never had a better executive level suite than here.
The service is personalized and efficient including a full escort to your room upon check-in.
The other venues are also among the best in NYC. Atelier is an excellent French restaurant, the Star Lounge and Bar is a great spot for tea or a drink, the La Prairie spa may not have the best facilities but has great treatments and product, and the Club Lounge is amazing...especially the caviar presentation. When you factor the Club in, there is no better hotel in NYC. - On Feb. 28, 2004, DRI posted:
Very nice hotel right on Central Park South. It's very consistent with the Ritz-Carlton brand. The hotel is very plush inside, from wood paneling, plants, and marble to paintings and decorative urns. The lobby is on the smaller side and definitely not as grand as many of the other hotels in NYC. If the lobby is your thing then don't stay here. The gym is very big and uncrowded. It is a great place to work out with free weights, cardio machines, and weight machines. The massage treatment rooms are very nice as well with private showers attached so you can go right from your massage to the shower. - On Feb. 28, 2004, LE posted:
Beautiful hotel, facing central park. Great service, very spacious rooms, nice bathroom. Room decor was nice, upscale, but not so fresh. Bathroom was nice, but smaller than I expected. Internet access for $13.
