This was a beautiful old hotel without the old hotel smell (i.e., the Palace Hotel in San Francisco). The beds were very comfortable but those pillows - all very big. I guess i could have asked for flatter or softer pillows. The sheets were very crisp - so much so that they made lots of noise if you turn/tossed lots. It actually kept me up at night and ended up sleeping with a pillow on top of my ear – first time:). Lobby is on the top floor - very nice. Was offered water or Champagne but declined. Over all an “8”. Parking was $16 (w/ in/out and 5 pm exit on check out date) which was very reasonable. Also heard the gym was awesome. - On Jun. 02, 2004, prncess674 posted:
I called ahead and requested a king non smoking room. I checked in about 6pm on Friday. They had to take a photocopy of my drivers license which I found a bit strange. I was assigned room 1510. The room actually only had a queen size bed, since I was alone I didn’t complain. The room was very large and spacious. I also had a sofa with a pull out bed and a coffee table. The bathroom had good hot water pressure and nice bathroom amenities. There was a robe hanging in the closet. The bed was already turned down with mints on the pillows. There was only one real window in the room, and it overlooked the atrium, so there was very little natural light. Behind the couch appeared to be another window, but in actuality it was just curtains to make it look like there was another window. I also had an ample size desk, with a two line phone. The phone speed was about 38K for a dialup modem. There was no high speed internet access in the room. There was also no coffee maker in the room. I am not sure if this typical of Hyatt’s since I regularly stay at Hilton properties. I was pleased with the room considering how cheap I got the room. I have no status with Hyatt. - On Feb. 15, 2004, RKG posted:
Great location for the hotel. It's in a small but high-end shopping mall right at the corner of Broad and Walnut streets. these are the two major streets in philly, so location doesn't get much better. The lobby is up on the 18th floor or something like that. It is very elegant and grand - huge painted dome which is very nice. Be sure to check out high-tea - it's an aristocratic throw back to olden times. The brits would be proud. The room was sweet also. The bathroom was very plush, marbled, etc. The service was of equal compare. no complaints. they even delivered room service breakfast within the 5 minute window that i rquestede. The gym is the Sporting Club, an old philly institution and a great gym. people pay $100+ per month to work out here. - On Feb. 15, 2004, OG posted:
Rooms here were very nice, well-decorated with nice views of downtown Philadelphia. Service was excellent. - On Feb. 15, 2004, LRG posted:
hotel is well-located, near city hall/downtown. it's attached to a lot of high end shops (Tiffany's, Williams Sonoma, Nicole Miller). the reception is on the top floor, which i found unusual. but the sitting area in the lobby reception was beautiful. lots of people sit in the lobby area for tea, drinks. There is also a great restaurant attached to the hotel called the Founders.
