This hotel was absolutely the best! We really wanted to stay at the Sheraton but it was booked solid. So based on the Hyatt's reputation we decided to give it a try. We had booked a room for our honeymoon at the Lahina Shores Beach Resort. (It was HORRIBLE!) We called the Hyatt Regency around 2 am and they were so accomodating. Since they had a lot of avaliable rooms, we got ours at half price for the whole week! What a great surprise! The lobby was beautiful. It is open air with a pretty "tropical forest" of huge trees. They also have exotic birds. There is a macaw named Popeye. He was so friendly. He would wave to you with his little foot. The bell boy was very friendly as well. They have valet parking that is for an additional cost, but there is an area for you to park for free as well. (The free parking lot was just as nice. An elevator takes you most of the way there.) We stayed in the second tower, on the 7th floor. (I think it was the seventh floor.) We had an oceanview room, that also had an excellent view of their beautiful waterfall and the ocean. (Bonus, it's much cheaper than the oceanfront room and just as nice!) There are flamingos in waterfall area too. The pictures that someone posted look just like our room. Except I honestly think we had a better view since we were higher up in the tower. The pool in the pictures does not give it justice. It's huge! It has a "cave" with a swim up bar and waterfalls that you swim through to get inside the cave. They have a slide that is fun for adults and kids. They also have a sectioned off area just for kids with animals that spray water and a smaller slide. They have tons of free towels for your use as well. They will set up your free beach chair for you near the pool or the grass. It was great. We ate at Spats Trattoria (in the hotel) several times. It was excellent. We liked it more than any other restuarant on the island. Since it was our honeymoon, the second night of our stay, we had a complimentary chilled bottle of wine in our room waiting for us after our day of scouting out the island. It was so nice. The furniture is nice and the room is very spacious. My only complaint would be the bathroom. I loved that the toliet and shower were separate from the sink/mirror but the toliet/shower room was too small. It has a walk in closet that is very nice. They provide a complimentary hair dryer and robes for you to use. They also have a small safe to store your valuables. You can get a small frig upon request. They also have several shops off of the main lobby area. (Macy's) They also have a drop box for outgoing mail and you can buy stamps from the front desk people. You get a copy of Maui's paper every morning. (They deliver around 2 or 3...we know since that's what time we checked in our first night.) The room also has this room darkening shade to pull across your sliding glass doors leading to your own balcany. This hotel also has peguins and HUGE goldfish. The shampoo, conditioner, and lotion from Spa Moana was really nice as well. It smells so tropical. We used it all week. They have a fitness center/gym too...but we never went to it. They have places to get beachside massages too. I could go on and on. We just really loved this hotel. They were so nice and accomodating to our every need and want. We will definitly stay there again if we ever return to Maui!! Feel free to email me about this hotel. I promise that I am a regular person and have no affiliation with the Hyatt Regency. We just had a bad beginning to our honeymoon (other hotel and long bad flight) and the Hyatt did everything they could to make sure it was a trip to fondly remember forever. Oh, when they heard it was our honeymoon they also gifted us with a handmade hawaii photo album! - On Jan. 15, 2005, Anonymous posted:
This hotel is awesome. The animals in the lobby (penguins, parrots, mccaws) are amazing, as well as the live forest. It is so beautiful to look out at the beach and the pool every day. The rooms are large with walk-in closets, large bathrooms, and our had a terrace. Just paradise!
